3RD Annual Santa Barbara United Nations Association Peace Prize

September 26, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$100.00

The event will recognize outstanding community members of the Tri-County area (San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Santa Barbara).

The Prize is given to an individual, locally having achieved worldwide impact service that is tangible and measurable. Nominees have worked for peace in the world, advancing the cause of human rights internationally, and/or advancing the progress of developing nations.

2019 is a record year for the UNA, receiving 7 nominations and each nominee will soon be highlighted at UNASB.org. Mark Fowler, co-author of Revolutionary Conversations has nominated Leslie Clark of Ojai, for creating the Nomad Foundation in Niger.

The United Nations Association (UNA) of Santa Barbara & Tri-Counties was started in 1947 and is the oldest chapter in the United States. The UNA has engaged locally with many important global topics, such as the Fukushima nuclear disaster, youth in peril, climate change, and educating the community about human trafficking and the plight of refugees internationally. In 2017, the UNA decided to honor local people working toward a more peaceful world.
